We all look for something different when we go camping. Some seek the outdoors without wanting to lose the comforts of home while others want to go deep into nature and as far away as possible from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Lucky for you if you’re in Victoria because it is home to many caravan parks, one of which is sure to be the perfect escape for you and your family.
Here’s our top 10:
1. Anglesea Family Caravan Park
Anglesea is a town filled with cafes, gift shops, galleries and it’s also a great location for bush hiking. One of the most popular spots in this town is the Angelsea Family Caravan Park which is run by the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee who is in charge of the 37 km of public land and coastline starting from Torquay to Lorne.
The Anglesea Family Caravan park has a lot of campsites — 250 of them! And all of them with water and electricity. Most of these campsites are close to the river, beaches, and amenities for campers. Pet lovers can bring their furry friends to the dog-friendly sites but it’s important to make a reservation beforehand because there are limited spots.
For those who want to feel closer to nature, it’s possible to request a spot in the bush camping sites to enjoy the shade of the indigenous Moonah trees. Families with kids will love that the park has a giant jumping pillow, playground, games room, and TV room. There’s also a beach volleyball court, basketball rings, mini-golf, heated swimming pool, and a large recreational area for everyone up for some sport. You also don’t need to worry about being out of the loop because the park has a wireless internet connection. And if you are planning to prepare your own grub, they have a large camp kitchen and BBQ area.

4. Echuca Holiday Park

Great Ocean Road Tourist Park
You will always find the Great Ocean Road in the list of best places to drive, but it has more to offer. You can go on a gourmet food trail, or see the view from the top like never before when you try the Scenic Flights and the Tree Top Walk at Otway Fly.
One of the best things about the Great Ocean Road Tourist Park is your chance to get a spot in front of the river. Fishing at the boat ramp is also an option. Pets are allowed in both the powered and unpowered sites but, not during peak periods. The spaces in both areas are big enough to accommodate most sizes of RVs, caravans, and trailers.
The park offers the usual amenities: kitchen, laundry area, easy access bathrooms, TV/games room, playground, basketball and tennis courts.
Marysville Caravan & Holiday Park
Recovering from the Black Saturday bushfires wasn’t easy. Marysville managed to heal and thrive. Now, it’s a place for high-energy activities like 4×4 rides, mountain biking, and rock climbing. The town isn’t short on interesting places like the Steavenson Falls.
All powered sites in Marysville Caravan and Holiday Park are spacious enough for caravans, trailers, and the like. The icing on the cake is the good view near the river. It’s been a favourite spot gathering around the campfire and roasting smores.
The camp has a bush kitchen, a camp grill, and campfire pits so you never run out of places to prepare your next meal. They also offer free WiFi.
Bright Holiday Park
Bright is brimming with history and going to places like Bright Splash Park and Bright museum will make you see the town in a different light. You can also witness the Autumn Festival gold panning tours and their mountain-crafted beers.
Pet owners can bring their furry friends at Bright Holiday Park under the condition that they’re fully aware of the regulations. There are three kinds of sites including the ensuite, powered, and unpowered. All three have water supply, but only two have power, and as the name suggests, the ensuite has its own bathroom.
Bathrooms and laundry areas can be found in the park. And if you need to stay connected, there are WiFi hotspots. You and your family can also enjoy mini golf, swimming, and the usual camp activities.
Mallacoota Foreshore Holiday Park
The charm of Mallacoota is its remoteness. It’s a well-known fishing town but you can also rent bikes, visit the national park, or have long nature walks here. Foodies can also try local flavours in some pubs and restaurants in the neighborhood.
The Mallacoota Foreshore Holiday Park has three kinds of powered and unpowered sites. These are in grassy areas, the waterfront, and some spots for RVs that don’t exceed the 10-meter limit of the site.
Bathroom and laundry areas are available, as well as a kitchen and BBQ area. And because this is a fishing town, there are some great local fishing spots of course!
